DeVos Institute of Arts Management Capacity Building Central Florida Program
The launch of the DeVos Institute of Arts Management (DVIAM) capacity building program in Orlando builds on the DeVos family’s philanthropy in Central Florida, which focuses on investing in the region’s nonprofit leaders and helping individuals and families to flourish. Fully underwritten by the DeVos Family Foundation, the two-year program focuses on leadership and capacity building, two of the family’s long-standing areas of interest. It supports 60 arts managers, artistic directors, and board members from 20 arts and cultural organizations in Orange, Lake, Osceola, and Seminole counties.
Led by DVIAM Chairman Michael M. Kaiser and President Brett Egan, the curriculum includes in-depth monthly training and consulting support in artistic planning, fundraising, marketing, and governance. In addition, participants also complete a five-year strategic plan, which helps them implement effective strategies for their organizations to grow and their programs to be more sustainable.
DVIAM was founded in 2001 by Michael M. Kaiser at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., to assist a wide variety of institutions. The Institute is now located at the University of Maryland, maintaining offices in Washington, D.C. Since 2001, DVIAM has served more than 2,000 arts and cultural organizations from over 80 countries.
